Knowing the role played by free radical damage in aging skin, subsequent research led to the breakthrough discovery that N-acetyl-cysteine (NAC) offers superior photo protection compared to other common antioxidants such as vitamin C. Additionally, it was found that carnosine enhances the benefits of NAC by preventing protein glycation.
