The Aging Process

Aging is a natural process that affects all of our body parts including the skin. Normal healthy aging, known as intrinsic or chronological aging, is largely determined by genetics; while extrinsic aging is due to the skin’s exposure to environmental stressors such as solar radiation, pollution, and smoking. Extrinsic aging is often referred to as photoaging because solar radiation is thought to be the most important environmental contribution to aging skin.
