Protein Glycation (Carbonyl Stress)
The concept of protein glycation (also called "carbonyl stress") has recently taken on great importance in the anti-aging field. The production of reactive carbonyls in the skin is a complex process, but they are increased in areas of the skin which are exposed to the sun.
Reactive carbonyls "stick" to skin proteins such as collagen and elastin, causing a variety of unwanted effects that accelerate the aging process. Nutraplex2C™ contains stabilized carnosine with the ability to neutralize harmful reactive carbonyls.
